Hours of Operation

Every day from 10 am to 4 pm, June 15th to October 31st

Location

Once you are on the Cabot Trail and see the Grand Etang Harbour, turn onto the road that hugs the harbour and you will see the Mi-Carême Interpretative Centre. The Centre is located behind the LeMoine Co-op Store of Grand Etang.

Take the time to enjoy the view, walk alongside the ocean and relax while eating your snack at the picnic tables.

There is free parking at the site.

* For activities and workshops, it is necessary to make reservations and can be offered when staff is available.

Average length of a Visit to the Centre

You will need at least 30 minutes to explore the exhibit.

If you wish to follow workshops, here are the descriptions and cost:

Workshop Time Price Description
Mask-making for children 2 hours $20 per child 1pm–3pm, Mon, Wed, Fri afternoons all summer. Learn about the tradition of La Mi-Carême, paint a mask, dress up in costume and have your photo taken with Marvin the Mi-Carême in our Photobooth! Under 16 (adults do not have to stay). Maximum 10 per class.
Mi-Carême for a day! $50 per person (includes lunch) All ages workshop where you’ll create a costume, participate in a demonstation of traditional papier-maché mask-making, paint yourself a mask and perform as a real mi-carême! Participants will also learn all about the tradition of Mi-Carême, the traditional songs as well as some some step dancing steps. July 5, 13, 19, 27, August 2, 10, 16, 24. Maximum 5 per class. Please register in advance at 902 224-1016.
Traditional mask-making 3 half-days $60 per person Have a traditional papier-maché mask made of yourself! One session on the making of the plaster mould. One session on the making of the papier-maché glue and technique for mask-making. And the last session on painting and decorating your personalized mask! Dates are flexible, call 902 224-1016 for more information and to register.
